This Privacy Policy explains how CSS Prepare (“we”, “us”, the “Service”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit cssprepare.com or any sub-domain we operate. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account data — when you sign up via Clerk we receive your email address, name (if provided), and authentication metadata.
- Forum and lesson activity — comments, posts, completion marks and quiz scores you create on the site.
- Contact messages — anything you email us.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Log data — IP address, user-agent, pages requested, referrer and timestamp, retained for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy.
- Analytics — only if you have granted Analytics consent. Data is aggregated and used to improve the Service.
- Advertising — only if you have granted Advertising consent. See Section 3.
2. How we use information
- To provide and maintain the Service.
- To personalise your learning experience (track lessons you have completed, your quiz history).
- To respond to enquiries and support requests.
- To prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-party services
The Service relies on the following processors:
- Clerk — authentication and account management. Privacy policy.
- Neon / PostgreSQL hosting — stores your account activity and quiz progress.
- Google AdSense — displays advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites, only after you grant Advertising consent. You can opt out at google.com/settings/ads, or for participating networks at aboutads.info.
- Giscus / GitHub Discussions — powers lesson comments; uses your GitHub identity if you choose to comment.
- Vercel — hosts and serves the application.
4. Legal basis (EEA / UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: consent (analytics and advertising cookies), contract (account features), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, Service improvement), and legal obligation where applicable.
5. Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 12 months after deletion to satisfy backups and legal obligations. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. Anonymised analytics may be kept indefinitely.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, port, correct or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, email hello@cssprepare.com.
7. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. International transfers
Data may be processed in countries other than your own (including the United States and the European Union). Where required we use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where appropriate, by notice on the Service. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
